From today, I’ve started a 34 day digital detox

What I’m doing and why

I’ve linked to this page, to let you know I’m not contactable via Social Media for the next month, because I’ve embarked on a digital detox. So you will get no replies from me for a while – It’s nothing personal!

I understand the role social media plays in disrupting a healthy dopamine cycle and it is clear, performing a detox is a positive and important thing to do.

This video gives a good overview of why this is important:

The program I have embarked on is driven by a card-deck. There is a card for each day of the program; 34 cards in total. Each provides a neuro-positive recommendation most of which are driven by the results of scientific research (and that they are all beneficial is obvious at a glance).

The program has a structure establishing firm foundations first. The cards visit each of the following topics:

  • Sleep quality (foundational)
  • Stress reduction
  • Reducing the difficulty of challenges faced
  • Establishing a healthy routine
  • Increasing mindfulness and focus
  • Health and fitness
  • Creativity
  • Knowledge/Brain expansion

The program lasts for 34 days which, right out the blocks, is based on science. Neuroplasticity of the brain is such that, research shows, it takes at least 30 days to overcome the bite of addictions and compulsions.

The Simple-Focus card-deck transforms performing a digital detox from struggle into positive joy. Some examples:
